P9902 - How do I do a backup?
(If you have the phone and the standard acquisition keeps failing, connect your iPhone to your computer, pull up iTunes, and right click on the device in iTunes and hit backup. Follow the rest of the instructions.) You must first find out what version of iOS your iPhone is running. You can check by going under Settings>General>About>Version 1‐2.x/3.x/4.x on your phone. Pick which one when the program prompts you, then depending on your computer's operating system, the backup is located at: Windows XP‐ Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\random numberletterchain\ manifest.plist Windows Vista‐7 ‐ Vista, Win7‐‐ :\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\random numberletterchain\manifest.plist To view these files you must show hidden files, by right clicking on any file in the window and checking show hidden files. Each randomly named folder will be a DIFFERENT BACKUP, from a DIFFERENT DEVICE. Once you've selected the manifest.plist the acquisition will start. Can I get a backup from a Mac computer and copy it over to a windows computer? No, the program is coded differently for each operating system and windows will not recognize the OSX created backup.
